Budgets are Overrated
Budgets are overrated.
Being in control of your money doesn't mean budgeting.
I often come across busy professionals who have hesitated to seek help with their money for years because they dread the idea of pulling out the calculator every night and meticulously tracking their expenses.
However, budgets don't work for most people and there are other ways.
On one end of the spectrum, there are those who enjoy spending money freely. For them budgeting is like dieting, the more guilt you feel, the less likely you are to stick with it.
On the other end, there are the optimizers who spend hours meticulously tracking every cent. While their intentions are good, they may sacrifice valuable time and energy on creating "perfect" budgets losing sight of what truly matters.
Instead of a budget that becomes outdated as soon as it's created, I advocate for spending plans. These plans are dynamic and built around your real-time financial situation.
Spending plans provide a clear snapshot of where you stand today, with automation taking care of the heavy lifting. They offer firm guide rails to ensure you save, invest, and enjoy some of your hard-earned money today.
This results in you spend less time stressing over money and more time focusing on what truly matters like your family, or for some making more money.
